TitleSchool House at Byron Primary School
DescriptionThis school house was built c.1901 from rock faced stone with ashlar dressings, and has a Welsh slate roof with coped gables and a shouldered gable stack. It also has a chamfered plinth and eaves detail. It is two storeys high plus a basement and attic, and is a single bay wide. The windows are mainly reglazed. The basement and ground floor were boarded up at the time of the survey (English Heritage, 2001). The street front has a central basement opening. The ground floor has a three light flush mullioned window, with two plain windows above. The attic has a reglazed box dormer. The right return has an off centre door and an overlight set between rusticated cheeks carrying a square oriel window with a ramped parapet. There are single windows to the ground floor left, first floor right, and attic left.
