Description | This former lodge to Bardon Hill (PRN 8729) is now a house (English Heritage, 1996). It was built c.1902 by Thomas Winn for Joseph Pickering in vernacular Revival style. It is built of coursed gritstone and ashlar to the ground floor, with a timber framed first floor, and has a red tile roof. It is two storeys high, with 2 x 1 bays. There is a gabled timber porch, with a four light square bay window, and is gabled through the eaves dormer above. There is also a two light square bay window and a projecting window under a half hipped roof to the road. It has a tall square stack with four attached cylindrical moulded flues to the centre of the ridge. (Text edited from English Heritage LBO description).
