Description | This house it thought to have early 18th century origins (English Heritage, 1983), although L Caffyn suggested that it could be 16th century in date (see PRN 8703). Either way, it has since undergone extensive alterations in the 20th century. It is built of millstone grit, with some quoins, and has a hipped slate roof. It is two storeys high, with an 18th century blocked doorway to the right. There is also a recent central door. It has a single bay to either side, with five light windows to the ground floor and four light windows to the first floor, all of which are double chamfered and have a hood mould each. One of these hood moulds has either been replaced or repaired. (Text edited from English Heritage LBO description) |
