Description | This farmhouse was built in the late 17th century but has later been altered. It is built of coursed squared sandstone and has a stone slate roof. It has a two unit plan, with two storeys and two bays, and is symmetrical. The central doorway has a plain surround of 18th century type, which is protected by a modern wooden porch. There are two four light windows on each floor, all with recessed chamfered mullions, and an inserted window in the centre of the first floor. The house has gable chimneys. Inside, there is a stop chamfered beam in each room, and a large chimney breast in the right hand room, with the fireplace concealed. (Text edited from English Heritage LBO description) |
