TitleRoman Brooch
DescriptionSmall cast copper alloy lozenge shaped plate brooch dating to the 2nd century. The brooch has four circular collared knops at each corner of the plate. There appears to be no decoration on the front plate of the brooch although this may have worn away. On the back there is a double pin lug although one lug has broken away, and a small catch plate. The pin does not survive. A number of similar brooches can be seen in Hattatt’s Visual Catalogue, Fig. 207. Discovered by a metal detectorist before 09/05/2005.
