Title | Roman T-Shaped Brooch |
Description | Copper alloy T shaped brooch dating from the 1st century (probably a Dolphin type). The brooch has long cylindrical wings which are hollow at the back and contain a spring of 18 turns (9 on each side). The spring passes through a central lug at the centre of the head. The bow has a humped back and protrudes slightly above the wings and tapers down towards the foot of the brooch. The foot, catchplate and pin do not survive. Discovered by a metal detectorist before 09/05/2005. Length 38.15mm, width 38.5mm, thickness (from front to back) 16.6mm, Weight 16.75g . PAS Ref. SWYOR E29F57 |
