Description | There is no description of this barn in the folder. There is, however, a site location map with accompanying plans, elevation and section drawings. These were drawn up to supplement a planning application for ‘change of use and repairs to fire damaged redundant barn to residential dwelling’ (planning application no: 00/02879/LBC). Although it was an LBC application, there does not seem to be any other evidence available that would suggest that the barn is Listed. There is, however, another Ravenscliffe Farm Barn that is marked on the WYAAS GIS (19/06/2008) at grid reference SE 19943 35536 (PRN 8674) in the neighbouring township of Calverley with Farsley. It is situated on Woodhall Road, which is the road that Fagley Road branches off. It is therefore possible that there was some confusion over which barn is Listed and which is not – either the grid reference provided by English Heritage (1986) is wrong (although all the other information provided on LBO such as street name, township etc seems to be correct so this would appear unlikely), or there was some mistake when planning permission was being applied for. There are buildings at this site on both the 1st edition OS map of 1848 and the 2nd edition OS map of 1894, and so it is likely that the barn is older than the mid 19th century. From looking at the plans and WYAAS GIS, it is possible to see that there is now an extension running along the north side of the barn, which is accessible from both the barn and the attached house to the west. |
