Title | Former stables at Burley House |
Description | These former stables to Burley House (PRN 8650) are contemporary with the house itself, being late 18th century in date. The stables comprise an L shaped block to the north and west of the house, creating a nearly enclosed yard. They are two storeys high and are built of coursed rubble with a slab roof. The stables were greatly modified when Burley House was converted to a hotel, itself being converted to an annexe. The surviving original features include modillions and three first floor roundels to the inner east side, the middle one with a keystone; a lunette to the inner south side; and a Venetian window in the single storey east gable end.
