Title1-40 Midland Terrace
DescriptionMidland Terrace was built c.1870 by the Midland Railway Company to provide housing for railway workers. The houses are in three blocks, one of six, numbers 35 40, and two of seventeen each, numbers 1 17 and 18 34. They was all built of pink brick laid in English bond with Welsh slate roofs. The houses are of two storeys with a cellar, the ground floor containing the living room and kitchen, with three bedrooms upstairs. In the rear yard each house had a wash kitchen containing a fireplace and set pot and a stone sink. WCs were set across the back street, which was lit by gas lamps. The terrace was taken over by the Corporation c.1967.
