Title | Greenhill Farm |
Description | This is a stone house of the late 17th century. It was originally of two cells and has an end lobby entrance. The house faces north and is of two storeys. The original windows have been removed, but it is reported that mullioned windows existed on the ground and first floors, demonstrating that the house was floored (Giles, 1979). The north front has a plinth and a drip mould over the original house. The 19th century cell added to the west end lacks these features. There are signs that the house was once timber framed (Giles, 1979). The house was re roofed in the 19th century, perhaps when the western cell was added. The rafters show signs of having had collars halved into them originally. |
