TitleRim Sherd of Roman Black Burnished Ware
DescriptionA rim sherd of Roman black burnished ware with lattice decoration. The outside of the sherd is dark grey and the fabric is a paler grey with small quartz inclusions. The sherd is similar to several recorded in the Roman Castleford report, 2000, Volume III The pottery, pages 117, 128 129. These examples were present during phase II and III of the Vicus area of the Fort c.AD 85 180. The sherd probably belongs to a flat rimmed bowl. Discovered 1/1/1984 as part of an amateur excavation.
