Title | Extant Lime Kiln, near Booth Bridge |
Description | Extant Lime Kiln constructed of coursed sandstone located on the canalside next to the golf course edge at Silsden. A massive buttress holds the kiln face together just to the left of the barrel arched draw hole openings which measure 2.9m by 2.5m and is 1.95m high. Sandstone voussoirs for a draw hole opening arch. A mass of lime has slumped through the draw hole eyes which are now completely collapsed into the draw hole opening (Johnson, 2006) The Kiln along with the nearby PRN 7391 are shown on the OS first edition map surveyed in 1848. |
