TitleNorth Bar
DescriptionA boundary stone marking the location of the North Bar of Leeds. The bar stone which is one of several marking the principal entrances to the town of Leeds is believed to still be in place beneath the facia of 104 Vicar Lane, north of Eastgate (Taylor 2005). The location can be seen on the 1847 Ordnance Survey map where it is sited on the western front of the Chantry Chapel of St. Mary (PRN 6026), which at the dissolution became a workhouse, and this use is also indicated by the 1847 O.S. map.
