DescriptionEarthwork remains of bellpits in Nothcliffe Woods. Overall diameter reported to be 6 7m. Said to be at least a dozen present. Bellpits can be any period from the medieval to the early C20th, however, the earthworks illustrated in the colour prints supplied appear to be well defined. Interestingly the site is marked as woodland on the first edition 6 mile O.S. map (Sheet 201).
