TitleFirst World War Airfield
DescriptionPontefract racecourse used like many others as a ready made airfield by the RFC/RAF during World War One. 'B' Flight, 33 Squadron, using BE2cs operated from here during the summer of 1916 (having moved from Bramham Moor? See PRN 5715). They left in October 1916 and it was then used by 76 Squadron, but by November 1918 arrangements were being made to relinquish the ground and by early 1919 it had reverted to its former use.
