Title | Cropmark Enclosure |
Description | Cropmarks of modern field drainage system and one short length of linear ditch in SE 275130. 1989 APs show a more definite linear ditch through SE 275130 but its origin is still uncertain; also what appears to be a possible enclosure with annex in small field at SE 276128. The latter (enclosure) showed much more clearly on 5/8/1995 when it formed a very directional mark, green on green and with a height difference. The main enclosure has a definite entrance to the east into the annexe area; linear ditches abut the northern corners. Field visit on 8/ 8/ 1995 showed that this had been visible in a grass crop (currently 1995) being mown (presumably for hay/ silage though this seems rather late; the grass is possibly a rye grass). The enclosure is neatly situated on a plateau just below a south facing slope to the north and just above a steep slope down to the west. |
