TitleLineham Farm
DescriptionLineham Farm was derelict by the immediate post war (WWII) years and the farmhouse itself was demolished in c. 1950s. Farm buildings have continued in intermittent use as part of Leeds MDC's farming activities (recently, in conjunction with the Home Farm at Temple Newsam).
The buildings are of 19th and very early 20th. century date with the exception of part of one barn with 17th. century stonework and a datestone of 1668; three roof trusses are of demonstrably earlier date and may be earlier 17th. or 16th. century. Cursory photographic record made by PT and site now downgraded to Class IV. The possibility remains that the site is somewhat earlier in date; Kirkstall Abbey was granted lands in 'Linlandes' in 12th. or 13th. century. The site of the farmhouse itself survives and may be of some archaeological interest if it can be investigated in some way in the future. NB. The farm was formerly a part of the 'Arthington Estate'
