Description | Medium sized smooth grit rock sloping down into ground and heather at South, nine cups, two with partial rings. Use made of natural cracks. Description from the English Heritage Scheduled Monument notification for SAM no 25295 (29/06/1995); The monument includes a carved gritstone rock, 1.7m x 1.2m x 0.5m. It is located on the ridge at Lanshaw, north of High Lanshaw Dam and overlooking Woofa Bank. Its grid reference by Global Positioning System is SE 13540 45390. The carving conisists of four clear cups at the south end, two with faint rings, and several shallow faint cups. |
