Title | Wildgreave Head |
Description | Farmstead, Wildgreave Head, part of a much broader landscape (Group PRN 4721) of dispersed farms and fields abandoned in the twentieth century. APs suggest that some of the buildings may still be partially standing in a ruinous state. Of all the farmsteads in this landscape, this is the earliest documented (inferred from entry in parish register cited by Smith 1961 W.R. Place names). On a site visit in 1999 as part of the Pennine Settlement Survey some wallls were noted which stood to a height of 2m, along with other turf covered remains of a 3 cell buiulding with attached barn. |
