TitleFryston Park
DescriptionFryston Park, still named on O.S. maps and centred on above grid ref., lies immediately southwest of Fryston Hall (site of, PRN 2615) and is assumed to be a former manorial park. Much of the south and west sides are still bounded by a stone revetted haha; the east side has been ploughed out but shows clearly as a soil mark and cropmark. This last side may represent the boundary to some later park reduced in area from the original as 'park' names occur again to the east of it. One AP shows soil marks of ridge and furrow of uncertain date within the park. The date of establishment of the park and its subsequent development are unknown; the only known feature still forming a prominent landscape feature is the haha. The arable area of the park shows cropmarks of presumed earlier (prehistoric) features see PRNs 982, 6755, 6756, 6757.
