TitleRoman Coin
DescriptionCoin of Gloria Exercitus type (two soldiers with two standards), issued officially for the Emperor Constantine the Great between 330 and 335 AD. Liz Pirie suggests that the absence of the full mint mark may indicate that the coin is a contemporary forgery. Found pre 1988 in the back garden of 77 Kendall Drive, Castleford, on which the grid.ref. is centred. Finder's name in paper record. Present location unknown.
