TitleIron Age/Romano-British Trackway and Field Boundaries (cropmark)
DescriptionCropmarks of ploughed out recent field boundaries, a double ditched lane and several zig zag linear marks associated with a number of pit like features; the latter could be tree holes but the area clearly needs further evaluation to aid interpretation of all these features. There is a documented medieval ford across the Calder at Foxholes (PRN xxxx) and it is conceivable that the lane marks the medieval routeway to this crossing.

The cropmarks were recorded by English Heritage during the Lower Wharfedale Air Photograph Interpretation project (aka National Mapping Programme NMP) in 2003. The features were described as an Iron Age/ Roman trackway and field boundaries and prehistoric/ Roman ditches centred at SE 3737 2545. The trackway is sinuous in form and fragmentary. To its northern side are a series of fragmentary rectangular fields. It is likely that these features are related to the cropmark complex to the north east (SE 32 NE 73/ UID 1389238). Other ditches are also visible but their relationship with the features above is unclear (Oakey, 2003)
