TitleWatching Brief and Geophysical Survey, New Lane, Pontefract
DescriptionWatching brief and geophysical survey carried out in advance of development on site thought to have been traversed by siegeworks of 1644/5, and also possible site of Medieval burial ground (based on paradise place name element). Failed to locate definite archaeological features. Finds consisted of two abraded sherds of Medieval pottery. Lack of evidence for siegeworks on this site leads I. Roberts to suggest that they may be located in the allotments immediately to the north.
