Title | Roman Road 721 |
Description | Possible line of Roman Road 721; suggested by D. Haigh. Partially coincident with Heaton/Shipley township boundary. Trial excavation by D. Haigh at SE 1148 3594 and SE 1152 3595 two trenches 7m and 3m across (sic) respectively revealed a (ploughed down?) bank, a field drain parallel with this bank, and a scatter of stone work over the subsoil. Not felt by M. Faull to be conclusive proof of the presence of the Roman Road. Further evaluation required in advance of development. |
