TitleAlbert Mills (demolished), Upperthong
DescriptionAlbert Mills (demolished), Upperthong. Mid 19th century dyeworks and finishing work.

WYAAS archives holds a copy of a WYAS/RCHME initial survey sheet produced by Ian Goodhall in 1985. The details are as follows:
The occupier is James Haigh Ltd, dyers and finishers.
There are five or more principal buildings dating from the mid 19th century to the early 20th century. The mill was water powered initially and later by steam.
The main mid 19th century mill body is four storeys tall and the dimensions are seven bays by four bays.
Other features include one and two storey offices and a dye house.
Water management was facilitated by a weir
(Goodall, A. (WYAS/RCHME). 1985).
The report is accompanied by photocopies of photographic prints of Albert Mills, presumably, taken at the time (Goodall, A. (WYAS/RCHME). 1985 (?)).
WYAAS archives also hold a 1985 correspondence from France, H.A (Director of James Haigh Ltd) to RCHME discussing Albert Mills and related documents. The letterhead describes the firm as being established in 1875.

On line resources described the mill site as occupied by a supermarket (https://maps.google.co.uk/maps. Web site accessed 09/10/2013).
