DescriptionNeolithic tanged scraper of translucent flint, found during digging of drainage trench in 1948 at New Mill, c. one quarter of a mile below Horn Hill Quarry (SE 164 086) by Mr. Colin Booth. On temp. loan to Liverpool University Arch. Dept. Finder indicated exact find spot to O.S. in 1961. The HDAS ref. cites finding of a half a polished stone axe in Horn Hill Quarry, c. one quarter of a mile away from find spot of scraper (no record of this axe in SMR; get it from Tolson Museum).
