AdminHistoryAnn Walker of Crow Nest, Lightcliffe was born 28 May 1803 and died 4 Mar 1854. She was the daughter of John Walker (1752-1823) and Mary Edwards. As Anne Lister's companion she inherited a lifetime’s interest in Shibden Hall, provided that she did not marry. Unfortunately her mental stability was in doubt and her family had her forcibly removed from Shibden into an asylum in York, under Dr Henry Stephen Belcombe. For the next twelve years the property was home to several families and it was not until Ann Walker died in 1854 that the heirs whom Anne Lister had identified moved to Shibden.

Elizabeth Walker, sister of Ann was born 10 Nov 1801. She died of tuberculosis at Abbey Lodge, Merton, Surrey on 28 Dec 1844. She is buried in the churchyard of St Mary's Church, Wimbledon.
She married in Halifax 29 Oct 1828 Captain George Mackay Sutherland of Udale (1798 -1847)
