60 1838 October to ‘Robert Parker Esquire Solicitor, Halifax, Yorkshire, Angleterre’ — ‘Barèges. Tuesday ‘2 October 1838. Sir — Having been some while absent from here, and your letter having ‘waited my return, I did not receive it till last night — I am sorry to say, I must ‘decline parting with any small lot of my Northgate ground on any terms whatever — ‘we leave here tomorrow — I have desired my letters to be directed to Rue St Victor No. [number] 27, ‘Quartier du Jardin des Plantes, à Paris. I am, Sir, etc. etc. etc. A Lister’ then wrote as under to ‘Messrs Galignani, Rue Vivienne, à Paris. Affranchie’ — ‘Mrs. Lister will be much obliged to Messrs Galignani to keep her Messengers for ‘her till her return to Paris when she will be glad to receive whatever number ‘may be due, and will pay up her subscription — Barèges. Tuesday night. 2 October 1838’ — then till 5 35/.. (have sat up all the night) wrote out Sunday yesterday and today — went to call A- [Ann] a few minutes before 6, and got into her warm bed and lay till 7 — then dressed —
Wednesday 3 .. 1 1/2 breakfast at 8 to 9 — Off from Barèges at 9 53/.. — very fine morning — at Luz at 10 54/.. delayed 4 minutes to give Charles and Pierre the remainder of our Gabas wine, and received by Charles the copy of the letter
