Title | Water colour portrait of Anne Lister of Shibden Hall |
Description | It is believed that this portrait (or the portrait at SH:2/M/19/1/1) is the portrait Anne Lister mentions in her diary 19-21 Nov 1822. Anne mentions sitting for a 'two guinea water colour sketch' by Mrs Taylor. Mrs Taylor reminds Anne that they had been at school together at Mrs Haigue's and Mrs Chettle's, Low Anne's Gate at Ripon. Anne writes 'There is something so very characteristic in the figure.' and it is 'an admirable likeness'. |
